Embracing Emotional Freedom: Tapping (EFT) Your Way Through Plant Medicine Journeys

Hello, wonderful souls! Today, we’re going to delve into a beautifully empowering technique known as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), or as many affectionately call it, "tapping." If you're considering a plant medicine journey or perhaps have recently embarked on one, EFT might just be the supportive tool you're seeking.

What is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?

EFT is a unique blend of modern psychology and traditional Chinese acupressure. By tapping on specific meridian points while focusing on particular emotions or memories, practitioners believe it helps release blockages within the energy system. These blockages can lead to emotional discomfort, and by freeing them, we pave the way for emotional healing.

Why is EFT Beneficial Before a Plant Medicine Ceremony?

Emotional Preparation: Plant medicine ceremonies are profound experiences that can stir up a plethora of emotions. By using EFT before the ceremony, you can address any apprehensions or fears, setting the stage for a more harmonious experience.

Enhancing Intention Setting: With a clearer emotional state, it becomes easier to set a focused intention for your ceremony, ensuring a guided and purposeful journey.

Reducing Physical Tension: Our emotional blockages often manifest as physical tensions. EFT can help in relaxing the body, making the physical aspect of the ceremony more comfortable.

Why is EFT Beneficial After a Plant Medicine Ceremony?

Supporting Integration: After the ceremony, you might have an abundance of insights and emotions to process. EFT can help ground these realizations, allowing you to integrate them smoothly into your daily life.

Releasing Residual Energies: If you find certain energies or emotions lingering post-ceremony, EFT can aid in releasing them, ensuring you retain only the beneficial lessons.

Reaffirmation and Clarity: Tapping after the ceremony can help reaffirm the insights gained, providing clarity as you move forward on your healing journey.

How to Practice Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT):

1. Identify the Issue: Before you begin tapping, it's crucial to pinpoint the emotion or memory you want to focus on. It might be anxiety about the upcoming ceremony or perhaps an insight you’re struggling to integrate.

2. Set a Reminder Phrase: This is a short statement that helps you stay connected to the emotion or memory as you tap. For example, "my anxiety about the ceremony."

3. Rate the Intensity: On a scale of 1 to 10, determine how intensely you feel about this issue. This helps to track your progress.

4. The Setup: Start by tapping the outer edge of your hand (the karate chop point) while simultaneously reciting your reminder phrase three times in the following format:

"Even though I have anxiety about the ceremony I still deeply and profoundly love and expect myself."

Repeat two more times while tapping the outer edges of your hands together.

5. The Sequence: Now, tap about 5-7 times on each of the following meridian points while repeating your reminder phrase. ("my anxiety about the ceremony")

- Top of the eyebrow (either side)

- Side of the eye (either side)

- Under the eye (either side)

- Under the nose

- Chin

- Collarbone (just beneath the hard ridge)

- Under the arm (about a hand-width from the armpit)

- Top of the head

6. Reassess Intensity: After a few rounds of tapping, rate the intensity of your emotion or memory again. Continue the tapping sequence until you notice a significant decrease.

7. Positive Reinforcement: Once you've reduced the intensity, you can incorporate positive affirmations while tapping, reinforcing the healing and positive shift in perspective. For example repeat phrases such as: "I feel calm and comfortable with the ceremony" or "I feel confident in the ceremony" while tapping on the meridian points. Do 1-3 rounds of positive affirmations.

EFT is a flexible tool, and the sequence can be adjusted to what feels right for you. You might feel called to tap on an issue several times a day until it finally releases all intensity or perhaps one session of tapping brings the relief you seek. The key is to maintain a focused intention and genuine emotional connection to the process.

In closing, the Emotional Freedom Technique is a potent ally for those embarking on or returning from a plant medicine journey. It’s a gentle way to navigate the emotional waves, ensuring that you get the most out of your transformative experience. Always remember that your healing journey is uniquely yours, and tools like EFT are here to support you every step of the way.
