CB043083In business, time is money and what SEO can mean for businesses is two-fold. SEO or Search Engine Optimization allows for your business content to be maximized in any particular search engine. This will make it easy for people to find you and your business. Second, the optimization of any content done in a fresh and original way will bring more business to your door. By use of fully optimized ads and content, your business site will not only rank higher, but will also bring more people that are looking for what you have to offer.

If you are unfamiliar with using SEO, here is a bit of a primer for business. When you are writing content for your site, you need to have high ranking keywords in your site and in any advertisements so that not only you will get a higher ranking on Google and other search engines, but the use of high ranking keywords will also allow for you to have more people to see your business. To begin, you would create an account with Google AdWords. You would then do research on the highest ranking keywords for your particular niche.

After writing your advertisement, you would need to decide how much per click you want to pay for your advertisement. After this is decided then you may want to run an AB test on one or more sites in order to decide which one is the more valued. Then your advertisement will go live. Here is a helpful hint. You might want to have more than one advertisement running during the 30 day period. 30 days is also how long that it will take you to begin your ranking with Google and other search engines. It takes time to rank your business through Google.

In the meantime, you need to make your page friendly to the spiders that will visit your page at Google’s request. Now if you have had 30 days, then you may want to check your ranking with Alexa and Google’s Page Rank for your ranking compared to others. Here is a possible problem that many businesses don’t understand. If your page ranking starts to fall, there are three possible consequences that you may not know about. The first is a page that has not been updated. The second is a change in code which will cause the spiders not to rank your page as high and the third is that content needs to be re written or a new campaign needed.

That is, in a nutshell how things should go when you are ranking your business pages. Remember, for the best results, a little tweaking may be required in order to get the best effect for you and your business. Remember also that the higher you rank in a search engine, the more business that you will receive as a result of that driven traffic to your doorstep. That is what SEO will do for business and your business in particular. It will drive business to your door.

There are thousands of websites on the World Wide Web which offer the same products and services to the visitors. Hence it is quite evident that until and unless you have something different and interesting on the site, it can never catch the eyes of the web traffic. The variation of colors, shades, shadows and reflections are pretty common in all the sites. Almost all of them are aware of the soft background, catchy texts and unique button techniques and use the same in their web pages. Now if you are looking for something innovative and attractive, the slide shows make a great option. These shows can display the images nicely on the page and this makes your layout even more interesting. The visitors will find it different from the other sites and take keener interest in going through the entire presentation. The slide shows can be created perfectly with the flash software. This is the software which can help you add some unique features to the slide shows.

A slide show can look even more interesting with some good background score. You can compose quality tunes that go well with the photographs and then insert it in the flash slide show. The transition effects can be another added attraction to the shows. You can select from a wide variety of patterns and the viewer will find it very much appealing when one slide will change into other in that selected pattern. Often you get to see these sorts of slide shows in the MySpace pages.

Some of the websites, which aim to create brilliant layout and wish to include interesting icons, both moving and static, are designed in flash software. Inclusion of flash files in the website enhances the appeal. The photographs should be uploaded one by one in the site. The software uses XML in order to manage the structure of the directory and names of the files. You are the one who will control the time limit that each slide takes to transit. Speeding up or slowing down the slide transition can be made easily with flash. As a matter of fact, creating slide shows becomes easier when flash is used as a medium.

In order to create a flash slide show on your website, you need to download the file from a website that allows free or purchased download. The formats are generally available as zipped folders which you need to unzip and save at the desired destination folder of your personal computer. There will be an image folder where you need to replace the slides with the images you wish to put in the slide show. You need to crop the images in such a manner that all of them fit into the available space. The next steps include editing some of the files and finally uploading it to the server.

Easy it sounds, practical tasks are even easier if you have slight idea about handling flash. So design a slide show for your website and get people interested in your website.

Not everybody is perfect; everyone makes mistakes at certain things in our day to day doings. Web design is obviously not exempted. However, you can avoid these mistakes by noting some of the most common mistakes with web page design.

1.) Legibility Problems:
Let’s face it; at least once, you have visited a site where you can barely read what was written. The usual problem is that fonts are too small to even be read. Some are carry too much flair rendering the actual letters illegible. Finally, the letters sometimes seem to blend with the background making it very hard to read.

2.) Non-standard links:
Links; these clickable items have been the main navigational tool of the entire web. Simplicity and function is the key to making good links within a web page; always indicate if a link is existent within the page by either underlining or changing the font color of the link. It is best that both be used for links. Here’s an example of how a link should look like; Click here to go to this website. Another common problem is that sometimes, people fail to explain what a person will see on the other side of the link. This results to people simply avoiding the link because they are unsure if it would benefit them.

3.) Written web content:
Informative content for the web should always be short, to the point and answers users’ questions. Also make sure that you do not use made up terms; use common languages that can be understood by you and most specially, by the users.

4.) Forms:
In terms of websites that requires you to fill up forms, the most common annoyance user’s face is the fact that there simply is too many unnecessary questions. In addition, try to always make everything required present on the first page. This saves the user’s time which means they would not quit on completing the form midway.

5.) Contact information:
Simply put, there are certain websites that provide none, let alone little, contact information. The lesser a user can reach/contact a company or service provider, the less likely will a user work with the said company.

6.) Browser compatibility:
Not everyone uses the same browser; there’s a wide array of different browsers people use across the globe. To name a few, there’s Internet Explorer, AOL, Safari, Netscape, Firefox, and much more. There are many instances where in a certain website fails to work well with all of the major browsers. For example, a site appears perfectly fine on IE, while in Firefox, all the pictures fail to appear.

7.) Bad searches
Another of the great annoyances for all users is when something else appears after a particular search. It is time consuming to search for the right website through a list of other sites that are simply unrelated to your search other than the actual words you keyed in as search parameters. Make sure that you use distinct, clear, and concise words to define your website.

These are some of the many mistakes a web designer can make. You can avoid these by taking note of some of the most common mistakes.
